Two of our projects are already enjoying significant success:
Aspire: Run by not for profit social and ethical recruitment agency, Aspire, this project helps people living in the Corridor (Ardwick, Longsight, Rusholme, Hulme and Moss Side) to secure jobs at the institutions on their doorstep. To do this, the universities provide Aspire with advance notice of job vacancies, which enables registered applicants to be matched to jobs in hospitality and catering, administration, and grounds and buildings maintenance. So far, 150 people have taken up jobs offered by The University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU).
To contact Aspire, call 0161 828 3270 or look for Aspire jobs advertised at the Job Centre Plus.
Pathfinder: Pathfinder was set up in June 2009 to help people living in the Oxford Road area access jobs, and is open to all local residents (regardless of benefits and/or Jobseeker status). Funded and led by The University of Manchester, and match-funded by private sector partner A4e, Pathfinder works with people on a one-to-one basis to direct them to job opportunities or into relevant training and education. Pathfinder is already providing support to 100 people.
