Business on the Corridor
Knowledge & Collaboration
The Corridor is a unique business location, at the heart of Manchester’s knowledge economy. Covering some 243 hectares it is home to a 55,000 strong workforce of which 43% are employed in knowledge-based sectors.
Businesses on the Corridor range from innovative start-ups to large multinationals and they come from diverse sectors – from financial & professional services to creative & digital to health & biomedical.
Innovative businesses locate themselves on or near the Corridor so they can work with our partners; immersing themselves in the networked and collaborative environment that is the Corridor.
Manchester Science Parks has been home to many of these businesses for over 25 years. msp provide quality space but much, much more. msp deliver their tenants first rate business development support including seminars, networking events, access to academic resources and a free PR service. By providing introductions to programmes, people and funding they help companies to grow and to sustain that growth.
More traditional office space can be found all along the Corridor, from small offices in the creative environment of Knotts Mills to high-spec accommodation such as that provided by Bruntwood with, for example, their Corridor-based Manchester Technology Centre; to visit Bruntwood’s website click here
Developments & Innovation
Business-focused innovation and development opportunities are high on the Corridor’s future agenda. Next generation access superfast broadband is being rolled-out within the Corridor and this will stimulate growth of the strong creative & digital and research-based business base. The Corridor’s Low Carbon Laboratory project will create an integrated action-research test bed for tackling climate change; linking world-class low carbon research programmes with large public and private sector organizations to deliver innovation and drive change.
And the Corridor is also home to Manchester’s most exciting development opportunity. The BBC’s imminent move to their new home at nearby Salford’s MediaCityUK, will release a 2.18 hectare major mixed-use site. This site is the jewel in the Corridor’s plans for £2.5bn capital investment in buildings and infrastructure over the next 10 years, which will double the GVA of the area to £4.9bn.
