MMU Business School

Manchester Metropolitan University’s (MMU) new £75m Business School and Student Hub is now under construction at the University’s central campus at All Saints.

The stunning, jewel-shaped building, set to be one of the greenest buildings in Manchester, will have glazed facades that will refract different colours depending on the sun and daylight.

Architects have ensured that it will let in as much natural light as possible and have included solar panels, ground source heat pumps and a system for recycling rain water. The building will also feature an outdoor winter garden opening onto Grosvenor Square. The 20,000sqm structure to house the UK’s largest business school will rise eight storeys along the Mancunian way sloping to four storeys at its entrance.

Scheduled to open in September 2012, the innovative glass structure encompassing three separate towers will enhance the school’s global reputation. The building is designed to make the most efficient use of space, and a sophisticated monitoring system will help to ensure that energy consumption is kept to a minimum.
