MMU Faculty of Art & Design

Manchester Metropolitan University’s (MMU) Faculty of Art & Design is currently half way though an extensive investment programme, having been provided with £34m to invest into its equipment and buildings. Part of this investment will see a brand new building for the Manchester School of Art, which along with teaching space, will include new workshops, a roof garden and an impressive vertical gallery. This exciting project is well underway and is due for completion by July 2012.

Manchester School of Art is one of the largest providers of art and design courses in the UK and has a distinguished 170 year history.

The 3000 + students, from all corners of the world, study a wide variety of undergraduate and postgraduate art, design and media courses in a creative community environment, taking inspiration from specialist staff, the City and each other. Courses include Architecture, Acting, Graphic Design, Illustration, Fashion, Fine Art, Textiles, Photography, Film, Three Dimensional Design and many more.

A vital element of the School of Art’s character is its close link to the City, its creative communities and cultural institutions. The scope of activities within the School connects it with an unusually wide range of external organisations including industrial, commercial and professional bodies, art associations and galleries. Student frequently have contact with organisations in Manchester through collaborative projects, competitions, live briefs, exhibitions, events and industry talks.
