First Street Development

The 20-acre First Street site owned by Ask Developments has the capacity to become the heart and commercial focal point of a distinctive new neighbourhood of the city centre incorporating Whitworth Street West, including Deansgate and Oxford Road stations, Knott Mill and the Corridor.

First Street is well placed to capture and nurture new business opportunities that will emerge as the City’s knowledge-economy continues to prosper.

The realisation of First Street as an exciting and vibrant mixed-use commercial and leisure destination area will incorporate four key strategies:

  • Redeveloping & Integrating the Oxford Road Station Area
  • Establishing a Cultural Hub
  • Re-defining the commercial office offer
  • Delivering an integrated anchor destination

The vision for First Street is already becoming a reality. Number One First Street – comprising 180,000 sq ft of Grade A, BREEAM Excellent floor space – is already a location of choice for business.

Immediately to the west of First Street is the Knott Mill area which has become home to a wide range of vibrant creative and cultural businesses. Added to this will be the move of two unique Manchester creative organisations, Cornerhouse and Library Theatre Company, to a stunning purpose-built £19 million new home. This new cultural destination will act as a powerful catalyst for increased footfall and the attraction of new leisure and retail investment.
